The Use of Calculus in Engineering
The PIP project “The Use of Calculus in Engineering” involved the development of a series of presentations illustrating some applications in Engineering, with an emphasis on the use of results from Differential and Integral Calculus I. These presentations were conducted as part of the Differential and Integral Calculus I course during the 2023/2024 academic year, as part of the Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering undergraduate programs.
Following the classroom presentations, Master’s students Vasco Morais and Miguel Araújo, under the supervision of professors Helena Mascarenhas and Beatriz Silva, prepared the following five videos based on the in-class presentations:
Drone Landing and Finite Differences (in Portuguese)
Forging and Work Calculation (in Portuguese)
Structural Analysis and Integrals (in Portuguese)
Spring-Mass-Damper System and Differential Equations (in Portuguese)
Waves and Fourier Series (in Portuguese)
